Vanessa Franklin is a Sydney-based artist from Aotearoa New Zealand, currently living and working on Gadigal land. Working primarily in painting, her practice explores identity, daily rituals and contemporary culture through depictions of people, animals and still life.

Franklin’s work is defined by a loose, playful visual language that moves between intention and impulse. Her compositions draw on moments of familiarity, reworking everyday scenes to reveal the emotional and cultural nuances embedded within them.

Through an engagement with the beauty of the mundane, her practice invites viewers to see themselves reflected in these scenes, fostering curiosity and deeper emotional recognition.

Her work has been exhibited in Sydney and London, and has been featured in British GQ and World of Interiors.
